About this view

Most shots and corners per match by league — attacking volume ranked

The Attacking view ranks all 1,200+ leagues by shots per match and corners per match. Volume tells you how much each league actually attacks, independent of finishing quality. Wing-heavy, crossing-led top flights regularly post 11+ corners per match, while tighter midfield-led leagues typically sit between 9 and 10. High-pressing, transition-heavy leagues lead on shots-per-match volume (15+ per team common), while more conservative competitions sit closer to 11–12. Pair this view with Scoring to see which leagues create lots of chances and which actually finish them.

Total shots per match is the broadest attacking volume read. Leagues that press aggressively or counter-attack quickly tend to rack up the most shots. Corner counts hint at how often play ends up in wide attacking areas — high corner leagues usually feature wide-channel attacks and deep crossing.

Sort any column to find the most attacking competitions right now, and use the time period filter to see whether the trend is structural or just a hot run. Attacking metrics are based on full-time data for accuracy.

Glossary

What each attacking column means

Shots/Match
Total shot attempts per match including on-target, off-target and blocked. The broadest attacking volume read.
Corners/Match
Average corners awarded per match. High counts hint at wide-channel attacks and crossing volume.
Progress
Season completion percentage. Early-season totals are less stable than full-season ones.
Rank
League quality tier (0–5 stars) based on UEFA coefficients and global competition strength.
Methodology

How shot and corner volume are calculated

Volume metrics come from full-time match data — no model derivation.

  1. Data source. Total shots, shots on target and corner counts logged at full time across every fixture in the selected window, aggregated from sports data APIs and processed through our statistical pipeline.
  2. Calculation. Per-league averages are totals divided by matches played. Shots/Match includes every attempt (on target, off target, blocked); corners are awarded count per match.
  3. Refresh cadence. Numbers re-aggregate within a few hours after each match completes. Switching the period filter instantly re-windows the calculation.
  4. Limits. Reliable half-time splits aren't available across every league — attacking metrics use full-time data only for apples-to-apples comparison.
FAQ

Most shots & corners per match — frequently asked questions

What's the difference between shots and shots on target?

Total shots count every attempt at goal. Shots on target are only those that would have entered the goal if not saved or blocked on the line. Shots that hit the post or go wide count as total shots but not as shots on target.

Which football league has the most corners per match?

Corner counts correlate with wing-heavy tactical styles. The most crossing-led top flights regularly post 11+ corners per match, driven by frequent wide play and deep wing channels. Tighter, midfield-heavy leagues typically sit between 9 and 10. Sort the Corners/Match column to see the live ranking right now across all 1,200+ leagues.

Why are attacking stats only for full-time matches?

We rely on full-time totals for shots and corners because reliable half-time splits aren't available across every league. Full-time data gives the most consistent comparison.

Which football league has the most shots per match?

Shot volume correlates with high-pressing, transition-heavy styles. The most aggressive attacking top flights regularly average 15+ shots per match per team, while more conservative, tactical leagues sit closer to 11–12. Sort the Shots/Match column to see the live ranking across all 1,200+ leagues.

Why ProBettingHub for league statistics

Three reasons analysts pick this dashboard for cross-league research — especially since FBref restricted its advanced data in January 2026.

1,200+ leagues, one ranking

Premier League next to Saudi Pro League next to J-League. Every major competition the world plays — from UEFA top flights to South American Primeras to Asian Super Leagues — ranked side-by-side on the same metric in seconds.

Every metric, every column sortable

Goals per match, xG, cards, corners, BTTS, over/under thresholds and home/draw/away splits. Click any column header to re-rank all 1,200+ leagues by that metric. Switch the period filter to compare whole-season averages against last-5, last-10 or last-20 windows.

Stats, not picks

We don't sell predictions and we don't push tips. We surface the raw league-level numbers — xG, finishing efficiency, defensive consistency, refereeing intensity — so you can read each league for what it actually is, not what someone wants to sell you.
